Anyhow, I woke up the morning of with a massive headache and even considered not going, but in the end, I'm glad I didn't change my mind and went anyways. Teehee...no coffee and a headache made my brain mush...as the SO would say, I had a "brain fart". I even asked the company for hash when I really meant a twitter hashtag. Teehee, kept my mouth shut after that...didn't want people to think I was a pothead.
Let me tell you a bit about Little Women, Big Cars. It is an original web series created by the collaboration between AOL and Vuguru. It launches May 7th on AOL on Parenting in honor of Mother's Day and is the first of six Vuguru series to launch on this platform. The series is set in California and center around four devoted soccer moms who attempt, as we all do, to balance their busy schedules, family lives, and everything in between. We watched a couple of random episodes and they were light hearted, funny, and engaging. They showcase the busy lives of moms and the friendships that develop. Being a short series consisting of 15 episodes that range anywhere from 4-7 minutes long, don't expect any serious topics to be brought up.
I had the pleasure of meeting these soccer moms, 4 gorgeous women with a lot of spunk and a great sense of humor. Here's the complete list of cast members and a brief description of their characters.
• Meg (Amy Yasbeck, Wings, Hot in Cleveland) -over achieving people pleaser and a SAHM is the one that takes on every school project
• Barbara (Julie Warner, Crash, Nip/Tuck) -a recent divorcee, lawyer and reluctant new soccer mom
• Rocky (Kristy Swanson, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Psych) -high-maintenance, materialistic diva
• Connie (Romy Rosemont, Glee) -curvaceous and big-hearted mother and Rocky’s side-kick
I have to interject here. LOL, poor Romy's character was written to be a bit chubbier so to make her look the role, she had to wear clothes 1 size smaller. Shocking, right? The surprising tricks and effects used in filming are a little like magic tricks.
• Mr. Huges (Ed Begley Jr., Portlandia, The New Adventures of Old Christine) -school Principal
• A.J. (Antonio Sabato, Jr., Melrose Place, The Bold and the Beautiful) -handsome, recently divorced soccer coach
• Woody (Alexis Denisof, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel) – Meg’s husband
Everything begins when the women set Barbara up on a date with their kids’ handsome and recently divorced soccer coach. This new blossoming relationship forces the other women to re-examine their own marriages. Then, there's the competing for spots in the school’s gifted program. Directed by Melanie Mayron and created by Sherry Coben, Little Women Big Cars showcases the drama, gossip, support and friendships of suburban life. Take a look at the trailer.
Everything is on the internet these days. I stream a lot of my shows off Hulu, for example. So, I like the idea of a web series where you can just watch it online. The part where I got sold was the fact that these are short episodes, no longer than 7 minutes. I can stream it on any of my devices if I have Wifi and it could be a short break from work, while I'm waiting for a friend to show up, or even if I'm just enjoying a cup of coffee. That's the beauty of it. No matter how busy my schedule is and yours, several minutes in a day is nothing. We all need a little time to relax and this could be the comedic relief you need. You should definitely take a look at it on May 7, it'll be over before you know it. Let's just put it this way...its a whole lot of fun package into an incredible short amount of time. They'll be rolling out a 1-2 episodes every week. Do you think it's something you're interested in? Come back and let me know what you think.
