#FashionTips with #ShabbyApple Mariposa Grove #Dress #Review

Shabby Apple
Last year, I had been in negotiations with Shabby Apple regarding a review and giveaway. The review never ended up happening and I was very upset with the treatment I had received. I finally decided to contact Shabby Apple about it again and was glad to see that they were willing to rectify the situation and make amends. So I bring to you, the long awaited review of Shabby Apple's women's dresses.

Mariposa groveI chose to review Mariposa Grove, one of their many vintage dresses, which appeared absolutely gorgeous in green through the pictures. It also appeared to have a great fit, feminine and fluttery with petal details along the neckline. Perfect for spring time, right? It also feature cap sleeves and an exposed back zipper. According to the site, this dress Fits Generously while having a snug fit around the buxom. The sleeves are also more of a cap sleeve. The dress is made of 100% cotton so although you can machine wash it, you can only line dry it.

I chose this dress because I loved the fresh, vibrant green color and it looked quite comfortable to be in. It could be dressed up for events or casual dressy for a day out. So, it suits my lifestyle. I ordered as per the "generous fit" sizing chart and went with the bigger of the two sizes since I was in between. However, I now realize that I should've gone with the smaller size because the waist and hip would likely still have been a bit big even with the smaller size. I looked frumpy in it because it was so loose around my waist and hip, not as flattering as I had read in the past reviews.

However, as a self-proclaimed fashionista, with a minor addition to the dress, it was looking smoking hot again! Read on for an easy fashion tip/solution if you ever find that your dresses are too loose around the waist line. It was nice and comfortable to be in and looked great after the modification. The petals around the neckline were also a pretty addition but you do have to pay attention that they aren't flipped to the inside of the neckline. I'd almost suggest tacking them down to the front with a stitch so that they don't flap everywhere. The zipper closure on the back was nice and easy and can be done up without help. The only other issue I really had with the dress is that the fabric wrinkles!! I despise ironing so if you're not one for ironing, stay away. In summary, a really pretty dress with minor and easy modifications and I would even suggest ordering a size smaller than recommended on the size chart if you like your dresses fitted.

So, what do you think of my simple addition to the dress? I found that adding the thick belt gave a break in the dress structure, providing a more fitted, slim look, while accentuating my waist line and the overall appearance.

I think you look smokin' after your mod!!! I do however think I'll take a pass on buying from them. Seems like you had more trouble than 1 dress is worth...

I think the dress looks much better with the belt. It accentuates your slim waist! :)
