Monica Sandoval, the designer of the 2012 Aflac Holiday Duck, is a 16 year old battling leukemia for 4 years. I personally have not met Monica, but I have had countless encounters with many children, sometimes younger, sometimes older, who have leukemia or other types of childhood cancer. Each and everyone is a brave soul, a warrior. The emotional, physical, and mental challenges each child goes through as they first become diagnosed, treated, and hopefully fight the condition into remittance is no small task.

It's difficult even for adults to come to terms with cancer. For kids, this is a scary issue. So, if you can, purchase one of these adorable Aflac holiday ducks this holiday season.
