Getting ready for Hurricane Sandy with Del Monte #SmartSnack #CBias

Hurricane Sandy is coming! Alright, part of me is excited but the sane part of me wants to make sure I'm prepared. I just got in from last night from a conference and had already made plans to go for a quick trip to Walmart to pick up some essentials that I needed. I already have lots of food and water but I wanted to grab some snacks, just in case. Why? I eat multiple small meals and snacks throughout the day. Despite my love for all things cheesy, healthy snacks are a big priority.

I usually buy nuts, yogurt, and the like but as we were wandering through Walmart, I spotted the new Del Monte Fruit cups. The shelf was nearly cleaned out! I was wondering if it was because they were just that great or if it was due to the impending Hurricane Sandy. I took a closer look and found out that each one of these cups contains 1 serving of fruit. The fruit cups have a full day's worth of Vitamin C, gluten-free, and only contain 60 calories. I've always loved the taste of fruit cups but purchased them rarely because of the syrup and sugar involved. These were different though. They have extra light syrup and do not include high fructose corn syrup.

I had to try it! At 2.28 for a pack of 4, it didn't seem so bad. I'm so glad I picked up a Dice Pears with Vanilla and Spice and Diced Apples and Pears with Caramel Flavor. Earlier today, after lunch, we were still feeling a little hungry and wanted something quick and easy to eat. We went straight for the Del Monte fruit cups and were pleasantly surprised! The syrup was more like fresh juice than syrup and the crunchy fruit texture with each flavor tasted more like a light dessert.
Smart snack
Del Monte fruit cups are going to be our go-to snack during Hurricane Sandy when we can't go out. After all, it's a healthy snack that also tastes great. I'm more worried that we'll have finished them all before the Hurricane even arrives! I could eat these as breakfast, snack, fruit or dessert. And since it's so convenient and portable, they'd easily pack in my lunch as fruit for work. We love it! Now, before you rush off to go buy your own, grab this Del Monte fruit cup coupon.
