#Orangutan diaries -Saving them 600 at a time! #Documentaries #Review

Orangutan Diaries review
Do you like monkeys? I've always thought they were quite cute. What about Orangutans, a closely related species? As man goes into the natural environment to obtain resources, the natural habitat of this species is threatened and they are now endangered. Orangutan Diaries is a PBS documentary, just released October 2nd, that shows what we can do to help them.

Deep in the Borneo rainforest, a dedicated team of veterinarians and caregivers rescues and cares for Orangutans. Did you know that there are about 600 orangutans being cared for day and night at the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation Centre? Each orangutan has had a traumatic past, some displaced due to rainforest fires...others rescued from being sold as pets. Some of the orphans show up so thin and malnourished that it breaks my heart.

However, change is being made. This team brings hope as they put forth their efforts to save these Orangutans. They take care of, nursing each one back to health, and teaching them skills with the goal of someday, releasing them back into safe Borneo rainforest. Watch as Lone Droscher Nielson, the centre’s director, takes you through the Borneo rainforest and captivates your heart with endearing stories of hope in this documentary
