The moral of the story? Our hearts #Undefeated!

Undefeated Documentary #review
We're athletes and the SO is a sucker for "based on true story" movies, so when I saw Undefeated, I knew it was a documentary that we'd be interested in. Now available on Blu-Ray ($24.99) and DVD ($19.98), Undefeated is a 2011 Academy Award winning documentary that tellsthe true story of overcoming obstacles and realizing dreams.

This documentary covers the Manassas Tigers, an underprivileged high school football team, as they overcome adversity, come together as a team and show their true character with the help of volunteer coach, Bill Courtney.

Undefeated is a rather strong title for this film as to me, the core essence of "undefeated" means no losses. That clearly isn't the case here if we're talking about the sport. However, undefeated can also be applied to their character, their strengths, and the spirit within. To watch these student-athletes with no future fight to create a bright future is moralizing and uplifting. The three student-athletes that were able to turn their lives around is something to be applauded.

At 114 minutes long, this documentary captured our attention and hearts, proving to be every bit as inspirational as we thought it'd be. It does contain quite a bit of swearing and appropriately is rated PG 13.

Maybe they chose the title "Undefeated" because even though life offered them struggles and adversity, it didn't knock them down, so they still felt undefeated.
