Okay, I'm the first to admit that my cell phone bill is more expensive than I'd like it to be. Part of it is because we're paying our smart phones off in instalments. We've got the corporate discount, the family bills, but it still works up to be quite the chunk of change every month. How many cell phones do you have in your household? How do you try to save money? Read on for 5 Money Saving Cellphone Tips and free Starbucks!

5 Money Saving Cell Phone Tips

1) Analyze -What kind of user are you? Do you always use more data than you have? Do you max out your limits? Who do you text? How many are in your cell phone plan? Depending on your answers, check and see if you're overusing or underusing your cell phone plans. Are you paying too much and not actually using what you pay for?

2) Text messages -There are so many apps out there that now offer free calling and messaging. Viber, WhatsApp, Google Phone are just a few examples. Can you save on your bill that way? I frequently use Viber and WhatsApp to text my out of country family and Google Phone to save on international bills. I use my data to call and text them but if it's a part of my plan, then I'm utilizing it to the max.

3) Family Plans -Family plans are great at sharing data, minutes, etc. If one person in your family uses their mobile services a lot and a few others don't use it as much, it equals out and works great to help save money.

4) Corporate/Company Discounts -Many often forget about this but if you're a part of an union or a large company, it doesn't hurt to ask if the cell phone carrier offers an employee discount. Many places have a 20% discount for various companies. If not for this, my cell phone bill would be even higher!

5) Cell Phone Carrier -Shop around, see what carrier works best for you. There's always different plans and offerings or promotions with different companies. For example, Ting, a newer cellphone service offers a plan that only charges customers for the cellphone service that they actually use each month. Amazingly, the average bill with Ting is $23 per device and can work with transferred AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint phones. All you have to do is check if your phone is compatible for the switch. During October 20-22, any AT&T cell phone user can check if your device is compatible with Ting and get a FREE $5 Starbucks Gift Card (Limit one $5 Starbucks gift card per email address and per active AT&T device checked). After the promotion ends October 22nd, you'll receive an email with a link and custom code to print off your gift card or add it to an existing Starbucks card.

If you're considering Ting, know that there are no hidden fees, penalties, or contracts. Use whatever you need and only pay for what you've used. Families of all sizes would love the savings Ting family plan offers as they offered shared usage for unlimited devices under one account costing only $6 per active phone plus the amount used.
