Though it hasn't quite warmed out in our part of the woods, Easter is here already. This means more time outdoors for our family. Sometimes, out on the golf course...other times, just on simple walks with our dogs. Lately though, we've had a lot more fun on our walks and when looking outside the window. "Why?", you ask. Well, it's simple really. We've expanded our home library with another fantastic collection of books from National Geographic Kids and have started birdwatching!

Our Eggs-cellent National Geographic Line Up consists of these 5 fabulous books:
-Little Kids First Board Book: Birds
-Little Kids First Big Book of Birds
-Fly With Me: A Celebration of Birds Through Pictures, Poems and Stories
-NG Kids Bird Guide of North America 2nd ed
-Everything Birds of Prey

Little Kids First Board Book: Birds (board book, ages Baby-3) -These simple board books are a great introduction to birds for the little ones. It was a quick read for our preschooler and we learned the difference between male and female cardinals. This was why we were super excited a week ago when we spotted a female cardinal in our backyard! We actually knew what we were looking at so it was so neat!

Little Kids First Big Book of Birds (hardcover, ages 4-8) -If you've never owned a Little Kids First Book series book, you really are missing out! The Little Kids First Big Book Series is one of our absolute favorite series because it always features beautiful pictures, easy-to-read big print and an easy reading format that keeps kids engaged. There are birds that we can see every day and then other unique birds that live throughout the world! My son loves learning about what the birds eat and then he asks endless questions about why they eat this and that.

Fly With Me: A Celebration of Birds Through Pictures, Poems and Stories (hardcover, ages 4-8) - This gorgeous book is filled with nature's beauty. The natural colors and picture are so pretty to look at and there's an assortment of poems, stories, and fun facts as well. I think one of my favorite facts about birds are that they are the descendents of dinosaurs.

Great Easter reads with Nat Geo Kids, review and giveaway
NG Kids Bird Guide of North America 2nd ed (paperback, ages 8-12) -This is our current bedtime reading book. We love learning about the different details about North America's birds starting with the ones that live in the Midwest and what we may have previously spotted. This is a great fun book about the noises that each bird makes. The book features 50 of North Amercia's most popular birds with lots of facts and tips to spotting or attracting them. There are also pages of mini-profiles of another 100 birds! There's just so much learning to be had.

Everything Birds of Prey (paperback, ages 8-12) -From time-to-time, we spot some bald eagles and hawks around here, so it was kind of neat to read Everything Birds of Prey. This book introduces readers to the world's most ferocious fliers. Plus there are lots of entertaining questions and facts such as...Which bird eats monkeys, small pigs, and lemurs? My preschooler went, "Which one?" right away and wanted to look it up.

This is just a fun collection of Nat Geo Kids books all about birds. We always look forward to how Nat Geo Kids is able to encourage the natural curiousity of children and spark learning and fun. I think kids these days could use some positivity in their lives and quality time well-spent with family and loved ones. Exploring and learning about nature together is just one of the ways we bond as a family.
