Book Review: I Lift Up My Soul

I Lift Up My Soul by Charles F. Stanley is the latest of the books I received to review from Booksneeze. Its a devotional book and I did have my doubts when I picked this book to review because the thing is, I believe myself to be religious, however, I honestly do not have the time to go to Sunday worship every week. I do my best in my own way. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that although I am religious, I cannot say I am not as strongly religious as some others may be. Hence, I was worried that this book may have been a little too much for me.

This is what the book description says:
365 devotions that lead straight to the throne of God.

The sun rises, the day begins, and everything the world needs from you stands waiting at the door. In the midst of it all, the whisper of God invites you to do the most important thing of any day—be with Him.

In this 365-day devotional, I Lift Up My Soul, best-selling author and pastor Dr. Charles Stanley leads you straight to the Father with words of encouragement and insight drawn from the Word of God. Each day, you will be inspired to lift up your soul and gain a Bible-centered perspective.

In my opinion, I believe this may be a very inspirational book for those who are strongly religious and I did like quite a few of the pages. I enjoyed the idea of a tiny blurp to read each day about how to improve yourself spiritually, mentally and physically as a person. I actually think that was my favorite part. I even loved the cover of the book; weirdly, it felt soothing and calm. However, sometimes, it just came off a bit strong. I have quite mixed feelings about this book. I know this will vary for each person who decides to read this book being as religious as it is and I definitely have in mind several people who would absolutely love this book. I would likely recommend this to new and old believers. I am at a loss on what to give this book in terms of stars. 4 stars out of 5.

Until next time,

I received this book for free from the publisher through the Booksneeze.com book reviews bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions expressed are MY OWN.
