Maybelline SuperStay 24 Long Lasting Lip Color Review

What better girl fun than to try out make-up?! ;) I was sent Maybelline's newest lip product, SuperStay 24 2 Step Lip Color for review. Supposedly, the longest lip wear out there, 24 hours to be exact, I put it to the test. However, before that, check out these cool facts that made it the product it is:
  • 5 years of research and 10 patents
  • no crumbling, caking, fading, feathering or transfer
  • Long and flexible applicator
  • 30 vibrant colors in 4 shade families: Reds, Plums, Pinks, Naturals
  • Easily found in most drug and big box stores for just $9.99

Well, then, how did it go? I'm a fairly active person and I have very long days so I think I probably put this product through the ultimate test. When I first applied the color, I was a little taken aback. I chose to use Wear On Wildberry and at first, it seemed a bit too bold, a little too sharp and not quite right on my complexion. My lips felt a bit weird until it dried and I was already thinking "uh oh" and I was worried about my lips being dried out. However, things turned around quickly as the initial lip color dried within a couple minutes and I was able to put on step 2, the ultra-conditioning lip balm and everything felt great, looked great. Drastic difference to what I had thought a couple minutes ago.

So, with my new set of lips on :), I was ready to go for the day. To make a long day short, I documented with pictures my day...hehe...excuse my funny-looking lips... I took pics every several hours beginning with having nothing on to step 1, then step 2, some after I had some hot drinks and believe me, I was smacking my lips on my cups, my SO, and everything just to test the "does not transfer" claim and it held true, to my amazement, every time! I went out to play tennis, sweated up a storm, came home, took a shower, and yes, washed my face and hair, and it was still there, fresh as ever, I just needed to reapply some lip balm. As a side note, though, its nice that the lip balm is in the package and all, but I ended up using my own lip balm later in the day and it worked just as well, so if you run out of the balm, its all good. Anyhow, I then went out for supper with friends and had a few drinks, a good time and yes, the color was still there! I came home so late that night, took another shower before crashing for bed and by the next morning, when I woke up, I still had some color. Crazy, huh? Bet you never thought the lip color would've lasted through all that.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out what I'm thinking now... I love it! Despite my initial hesitation and doubt, this has proved that it does last and look hot at the same time. Its a great color for going out on town for the night or even for daily, professional looks.

Overall:
The good: It lasts 24+ hours, longest lasting ever! Great look! Love it!
The Bad: Well, if you want it off earlier...you'll need an oil-based makeup remover. And, although I like the applicator brush, it picks up quite a bit at once and with a new tube, it picks up globs!

L'Oreal Paris Double Extend Eye Illuminator Mascara and The One Sweep Eye Shadow Review

More make-up?! Yep! You can still use this one for everyday use or going out! I was sent L'Oreal Paris' newest eye products, Double Extend Eye Illuminator Mascara and The One Sweep Eye Shadow for review. These two products are very unique and I absolutely ADORE the fact that they are personalized to your eye color. I have brown eyes and so there's a color uniquely designed just for my brown eyes and I! I received "Playful for Brown Eyes" eye shadow (how cute is that?) and Black Quartz Mascara.

The Playful for Brown Eyes L'oreal Paris The One Sweep Eyeshadow (MRSP $9.95) comes in beautifully matched colors that you apply with just one applicator that gives you a stunning, professional look. You could apply less shadow for a day look or more for a sexy, girl's night out look. It was so pretty that I really didn't want to take it off. The trick is to blend upwards and keep the darker shade along your lash line. It was so easy and the effects were fabulous!

The Black Quartz L'oreal Paris Double Extend Eye Illuminator Mascara (MRSP $10.95) is something that I desperately need. If you look at my pics, you can see that my eyelashes aren't really outstanding at all...if you can even see them, that is. The results I got from this product was just amazing. My lashes looked so much longer and they were actually noticeable! Beyonce is no longer the only one with hot lashes! Its a 2-step process that starts with a black mascara basecoat which is infused with a hint of color to intensify and lengthen lashes. The second step is an illuminating topcoat which has light-reflecting pearls to enhance your eye color. This topcoat can be applied just at the tips of your lashes for an everyday look or throughout your lashes for a more dramatic look before you head out for the night. Oh, and I almost forgot, this mascara did not smudge! That's really important for me as I smile with my eyes...so too often a time, does my mascara get smudged underneath my eyes and viola, the panda arrives!

Both products were absolutely great! .

Overall:
The good: Unique, easy, but professional looks for your eye color! Gorgeous colors and innovative products make for beautiful results!
The Bad: I didn't really have anything to say about the bad for these products. If I really had to say something, however, the color for the eye shadow didn't show up very much on one brush, it took several brushes before I got some color to show on my eye lid.

Being Four Children's Book Review

Kim Cormack, a preschool teacher of 15 years from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada and proud mother of 2, had brought to us "Being Four", a sweet and light children's book about her son Cameron's adventure and fun as he turning 4 years old.

This 26 page book is filled with beach scenes and large pictures from Vancouver Island and happy children playing as they should, you enter their world and realize how fun and carefree it was being a child again. It envelops you in warmth and bubbly feelings as well as many heartfelt "awws..." and your child and you travel through the delightful joys and curiousities of being a 4 year old.

It was a wonderful read and I'm sure both parents and their children alike will enjoy it as much as I did.

Buy It: Being Four ($12US) can be bought on the Publisher's site, Amazon.com, and Barnes and Noble.

Design Star anyone?

So I've been watching the past season of Design Star lately on Hulu and its been quite interesting! I've always loved watching the shows on HGTV because I feel it gives me some inspiration as to what I 'd like to put into my place once I settle in. However, I really don't have the time right now to build myself a stand so I decided to look online for some sweet LCD TV stands that would convey both style and functionality!

This one was completely in my strike zone.

Its slightly asymmetric which I think gives it a gorgeous finish and I've always loved the look of dark wood! Not only that, it even has some closed drawers so that you can hide away the crap that's in your living room to make that clutter disappear when guests come. Overall, a sleek and sophisticated TV stand with a luxurious feel. I love it!

Need to revamp your living room? Take a look and use TVMar10 for 10% off any purchase over $499.
