As JR and BabyPom get older, it becomes harder and harder on their knees. JR also has sublimating patellas, so you can really tell when she's in pain and limping. Over the last couple of years, I've noticed it's been harder and harder for her to sit. So, when it comes to their feeding and water bowls, floor level just isn't that great anymore. For those of you who are pet parents, how do your pets behave in stressful situations? Are they pretty good or do they wreck havoc. Having a new baby and somewhat antsy dogs, I didn't know how they'd respond. The more nurturing and caring of the two, JR, ended up being more avoidant of baby than anything and our louder, constantly needing attention BabyPom, ended up wanting to give baby kisses all the time, despite also wanting to be held at the same time. I will admit, it's gotten a bit more challenging getting them out for routine walks while taking care of a baby and it certainly contributes to the crazy pent up energy. Brrr...it is chilly out! The snow is falling and it is almost Christmas. Every month I find myself wondering...where did that last month ago. We often know and say what our #TruLoveIs. However, what about our pets? What do you suppose their True Love is? For JR, I long realized that she was a glutton and loved to eat. It didn't really hit me until I weighed her the other night and realized she is now 6lbs overweight, from being a mere 3lbs overweight! It doesn't sound like a lot but when you're only supposed to be 15lbs, 6 is almost 1/3 of it! BabyPom, on the other hand, loves the outdoors and running outside. In all of the years that we've had JR and BabyPom, we've never actually taken them to the groomers. I do most of the washing and grooming on my own though I sometimes am able to coerce the husband to help shower the pups. Dog grooming is difficult, mind you, and with JR and BabyPom's different fur consistencies and styles, it can be difficult. I've given BabyPom an awfully ugly trim before and yep, no one could recognize that he was a Pom. Well, that was a long time ago. Now I'd like to believe that I give him pretty good trims, including the lion cut I attempted about a month back. We truly live in a world where almost anything is possible. Who would've thought I'd have a custom patch of grass on our patio for the pups. As you know, JR is quite the clean pup. Did you know exercise is a great way to calm a hyper dog? If you've ever watched Cesar Milan, he's a huge fan of getting the dogs to swim and then training them afterwards. I think it's a fantastic idea getting the pups active and tiring them out so that they'll focus more on training. It's good for their health and body. JR is scared of the water so we'll work on her eventually, however BabyPom has energy like no other. He can go for an hour long walk and still have crazy energy. This is going to sound disgusting...but since I moved into my new place, I have not had a vacuum cleaner. Luckily, most of my place consists of non-carpeted flooring, which means I can sweep and mop but it still takes quite a bit of effort. Unluckily, like 75% of other US homes, we have a combination of carpets and hard floors. Without a vacuum cleaner, my carpeted rooms were subjected to a life of neglect. Frankly speaking, they had not been vacuumed for months. Remember I also have two troublemaking, insanely shedding furbabies that didn't make the cause any easier. Short version...we were living in filth and layers of fur until very recently.
