Book Review: One Good Man...LOL!

I cracked up when I saw the title of this book I received to review from Dorrance Publishing Co... What woman can resist a book with a title like "One Good Man" by Virginia Foster. Isn't that what we all yearn for and hope we find in our lifetime? Someone special to share our life with? Now, I just sound like some sort of love doctor or marriage counsellor but ya, you get the reason why I chose to review this book.

The synopsis:

Dr. Diane Redfield seems to have it all: beauty, brains, good friends, and a thriving psychology practice. She is dedicated to her patients and spends her free time enjoying the California weather with her loyal dog, Paul. But despite her full life, she has yet to find success in love—until she meets Dr. Bob Callahan, a highly respected psychiatrist and widowed father. The two begin a passionate affair.
As the relationship progresses, Diane struggles with her own fears as well as her professional ethics. Then she begins to realize something very sinister is going on. The more she learns, the deeper she falls into danger.
One Good Man is a page-turner full of romance and suspense. Join Dr. Diane as she struggles to survive the darkest places of the human mind—and to keep her faith in the possibility of love.
Dun dun dun...the thought of danger...suspense...adventure and love....sounds like a great read to me! Well, and that it was, I had a great time reading this book although there were parts that were kind of obvious and you could see it coming. Its a great weekend book and I thought it was quite well put together for a new writer. The only real problem I had with the book was the cover. I can't say I enjoyed the artwork. It kind of takes away from the book's value. Other than that, this book was a solid 4.5 stars out of 5.

Until next time,

Book Review: I Lift Up My Soul

I Lift Up My Soul by Charles F. Stanley is the latest of the books I received to review from Booksneeze. Its a devotional book and I did have my doubts when I picked this book to review because the thing is, I believe myself to be religious, however, I honestly do not have the time to go to Sunday worship every week. I do my best in my own way. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that although I am religious, I cannot say I am not as strongly religious as some others may be. Hence, I was worried that this book may have been a little too much for me.

This is what the book description says:
365 devotions that lead straight to the throne of God.

The sun rises, the day begins, and everything the world needs from you stands waiting at the door. In the midst of it all, the whisper of God invites you to do the most important thing of any day—be with Him.

In this 365-day devotional, I Lift Up My Soul, best-selling author and pastor Dr. Charles Stanley leads you straight to the Father with words of encouragement and insight drawn from the Word of God. Each day, you will be inspired to lift up your soul and gain a Bible-centered perspective.

In my opinion, I believe this may be a very inspirational book for those who are strongly religious and I did like quite a few of the pages. I enjoyed the idea of a tiny blurp to read each day about how to improve yourself spiritually, mentally and physically as a person. I actually think that was my favorite part. I even loved the cover of the book; weirdly, it felt soothing and calm. However, sometimes, it just came off a bit strong. I have quite mixed feelings about this book. I know this will vary for each person who decides to read this book being as religious as it is and I definitely have in mind several people who would absolutely love this book. I would likely recommend this to new and old believers. I am at a loss on what to give this book in terms of stars. 4 stars out of 5.

Until next time,

I received this book for free from the publisher through the Booksneeze.com book reviews bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions expressed are MY OWN.

I know I saw a bunch of kids dressed up already earlier on this afternoon and they looked great! What adorable and innovative ideas have you come up with this year for costumes? I think my favorite one that I've seen so far was a full body dragonish dinosaur suit...just too cute!

Shutterfly Holiday Card Review

As I was flipping through the various Christmas card designs at Shutterfly, I found it hard to pick which one was my favorite design. Instead, I've narrowed it down to several of my favorite choices. I loved how they had a range of designs from simplistic with just one photo to several photos. I especially enjoyed how they had all sorts of cards, some fun, some elegant, and honestly, if I had a choice, I'd get some of each kind!

1) Mod Snowflakes Christmas Card -I love the bright colors on this one, it just makes it look fun and I can't resist it! The only thing for me though, is that I have a story I have in mind that I'd like to put on my card so the one picture option may not be for me. But still, colors and snowflakes all adds up to a funky card.

2) Seasonal Chic Holiday Card -This one is just simple and elegant, a bit more conservative and would definitely be a possible choice for family and friends!

3) Or if you want to create a story like me, Shutterfly offers various holiday story cards. These were a couple of my favorites. I loved how these two designs allow you to use many pictures and the vibrant colors were a bonus!

Shutterfly is an awesome idea for adding that personalized touch to your Christmas and holiday cards at affordable prices. The best news is that Shutterfly is offering 20% off all holiday cards at the moment!
